After reading Doc’s two blogs about the chance we have to
make a productive facility out of the Muhlenberg campus, I am hurt by the
comments that he allowed to be printed in the past as well as most of his
criticisms that weren’t just misleading but out right false.
I’m in total shock about what has been written about bill A3680
which allows corporation business tax credits to
developers for certain capital investments for repurposing qualified health
care facilities. And I welcome anyone to go and actually read the bill.
I’ve always felt that Doc like myself cared about this city
its future and reputation. But in reading his blog I am completely blown away
by most of the commentary about this bill. It passed out of the Legislature
with bi-partisan support and is now waiting on a vote in the State Senate.
Every other community that this bill would affect supports it and their
legislative representatives have told me so. These communities understand what
we are up against as the clock ticks away.
We may disagree, but for someone that I respected as an
educator to allow those disgusting anonymous comments from your past commentary
on the bill hurts. Those comments were shocking and unproductive.
It seems to me that it’s the same group of negative do
nothings who’d rather make nameless faceless comments then help the city. I
have no respect for someone who throws rocks then hides behind a tree.
As for some of the people that do post their names they are
almost as bad, throwing out and creating rumors with no proof whatsoever just
to stir up more negativity.
This bill I sponsored helps not just Plainfield but the entire state. This isn’t
some bill that helps Solaris or lines my pockets like some on the blogs have
speculated. For any person to ever say that about me or that I have ever taken a
dime in my 30 plus year career you must not know who I am or my record. You
must be speaking from personal experience because I’ve never and will never
take a dime to do this.
This bill will not stop anyone from coming forward with a
new way to finance the facility. All help is welcome. The federal government
and state do not have the financial ability to make it happen so we have to be
creative and have someone buy the bonds.
What this bill does is bring back and expand medical
services and creates jobs which our community needs. If you know of any one who
will put together something better for the site then now is the time to put up
or shut up because for the last 4 ½ years I’ve haven’t heard nothing, no plan
and no ideas.
This is the chance to have something in place for the site
before the 5 year contract expires. That’s the goal. Our community is running
out of time. Right now we face the choice between nothing at all in that
location or something that that will help this community.
I choose to work for something that will help the community.
