Lampitt Welcomes Commitment to Increased Cancer Funding
Assemblywoman Secured the Increased Funding in State Budget
(6th LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT) – Assemblywoman Pamela R. Lampitt (D-Camden/Burlington) released the following statement Tuesday on the governor highlighting the $3.5 million in increased funding for the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection program she secured in this fiscal year’s state budget.
Lampitt secured the increased funding through budget resolution 2392:
“We’ve all tragically known someone who was impacted by cancer, so I was very pleased to see others join our commitment to increase cancer funding. It’s always better to work together to benefit the people of New Jersey, so I welcome everyone to our effort to help our families, friends and neighbors live stronger and healthier lives. I hope this cooperation can extend to all aspects of health care, especially for women.
“The New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection Program offers outreach, education and screening for breast, cervical, colorectal and prostate cancers. Those eligible must be at or below 250 percent of the Federal Poverty Level and be either uninsured or under-insured. Each county has at least one lead agency for services. For more information, click on NJCEED Screening Locations or call 1-800-328-3838.
“I urge all eligible New Jerseyans to take part in this program, and I urge everyone to follow the American Cancer Society’s cancer screening guidelines. Let’s save lives.”
