Gang Violence is a Concern for the Entire City

Dan you should give credit where credit is due. You have been able to make excuses for Cory Storch for the last 8 years. When a lady asked twice in reference to where the President of the Council happen to be, I noticed in your column today and at the meeting you sat silently by, making it appear as though she is not interested in this issue. I am not here to defend or criticize the Council President, but for you to make excuses for Cory and not speak up on her behalf, shows a lack of respect for the President and magnifies your favoritism towards Cory. Also this is not the first time that you have totally ignored Councilwoman Vera Greaves, also present at the meeting. In your blog you do not bring this to the attention of the public. Even when you have an opportunity to be fair, you choose to show favoritism but then again, I am not surprised. Not only was I there, I also had an opportunity to explain to the public that the cuts in Trenton that are going to occur in this year's budget do not give the city any new dollars to help fight crime. The cuts limit the city's ability to provide these individuals with a choice. The choice between criminal activity (then they can go to jail) or work. If they choose to work then we should have some vehicle to help them.

My position is that the Council President has shown an interest in this issue but for you to go out of your way to protect Cory leads me to wonder if you are throwing her under the bus. No one defended her but yet and still, you can defend Cory - who has not done anything for 8 years. Like I said at the meeting, people that live in the 2nd ward may feel that this is only a problem in the 4th ward, however it is only a matter of time before this becomes a problem that affects each of the wards. This is our issue, one that is not ward specific.

I know that there are people in the 2nd ward that are concerned about this issue and I am pretty sure that as a resident of the 2nd ward they feel as I do - they would like to see their representative at these meetings working to bring a resolution to this issue because this problem affects the entire city.
